Thanks for the all the tips. So - to be clear, I have Beolab Penta 1's, so they are active. The Dolby is all built in to the 32 inch Avant - I believe it is one of the most recent US Avant models. The New beolink converter, I assume would then have remote function of the 4500 running through the Avant. Does that plug into the ML port on the Avant

I recently got a blue Avant 32 inch, which I love. It has Penta 1's on either side, which are connected via MCL to my Beomaster 4500. I want to use the Penta 1's (which do not have a powerlink connection, although I have the adapter cable to go from powerlink to the Penta input) with both the Beomaster 4500 and the Avant. The Avant, of course

The advantage of the 5500 is that the tray is on the right, which when stacked atop of the cassette player, makes the cassette tray more useful. The CD5500 was sold with later Beosystem 5000's I believe.

I have two Beolink 7000's currently sitting in the same room with my Beomaster 4500. When the 4500 does not feel like sending out clock data, the 7000's display the STANDBY red dot on the right side of the display. Interestingly, one of the units also displays a red dot on the LEFT side of the display, symmetrically spaced relative to the right

For those like me in the US: the Radio Shack part number for the "F-to-PAL" adapter is 278-265. This is needed to go from a standard F type coax cable from a roof FM antenna to the PAL socket on a 4500 or 5500 unit.

Thanks! By the way, I have to say the sheer number of individual cords is a bit ridiculous to make this work: MCL cable with connectors from the Beomaster to junction box MCL cable from junction box to the MCL 2AV Cheesy wall transformer with cable plugged into the MCL 2AV Cable from bottom of XTRA unit to the MCL 2AV Power cord from the XTRA unit 2

Problem resolved. I took apart the transceiver and found multiple wires that had not been properly trimmed during manufacture, that looked like they might be shorting to the case. Sure enough, after trimming the wires and re-assembling the XTRA 7000 transceiver, the Beolink 7000 works fully in two way mode. YEEHAW!
-
Quick update: the Beolink 7000 does work in one way mode with the XTRA transceiver when it is hung on the transceiver unit. However, it will not work in one way or two way mode when it is off the wall charger. It is almost as if there is a problem with the IR receiver on the XTR transceiver.

Help! I am setting up a NOS XTRA Active speaker kit (the one with the round eye that the Beolink 7000 hangs on) with a Beolink 7000, Beolab 3000, and Beosystem 4500. I have connected the XTRA kit with the MCL cable to the speaker 2 connection on the 4500. Here is what works: Beolink 7000 with the 4500 in 2 way mode Pentas connected to the 4500 Mute
