We have to assume that the period of compressed music will be a blip on the radar as digital music advances. It was, so far as I understand it, a matter of scarcity of storage. Now that storage is cheap, files can grow. Now that the cloud is here, memory will become effectively unlimited.

[quote user="soundproof"]It's nonetheless a given that Apple will move into screen displays for movies, etc - they already have that, among young people, who don't see a difference between their Cinema Display or iMac and a television set, except for the fact that the television set does a lot less. If you're really looking at our competition, it's probably not in electronics. We're the subject of profligate discretionary spending and if that same money isn't spent on us, it's probably going to a MTM suit, a high-end watch, a kitchen remodel, or toward a luxury car. By the time the need became urgent, the hardware infrastructure did not exsit. Now with new models like the BeoSound 5 & Encore, automatic SW updates are becoming the standard. Going forward you won't see new products

Many products are assembled in the Czech factory of parts made in Denmark and then shipped either directly from Czech or sent back through DK. This sort of system is a moving target, really. As new products come online the logistics of manufacturing will undoubtedly be changing constantly. Better to focus on the end product. The BeoSound 8 got some
