See if it possible to get a RGB cable for the PS3 instead of the composite cable that come with it, it's rubbish. The 16/9 issue is because the PS3 don't tell the Avant it's 16/9.

The Avant don't have speaker detect, you tell it manually. The problem is that when you set phantom front speaker, the avant only plays MONO.
