  • Re: Got my Beovision 8 an hour ago

You will love the Apple TV. I strongly recommend that you upgrade the firmware to version 2.0 once you get it set up and networked. Under version 1.1, the Apple TV outputs only 1080i or 720p, but version 2.0 enables 1080p video output and Dolby 5.1 audio output. The difference in video and audio quality is substantial.

  • Re: BeoVision 7-40 Versus BeoVision 9

You may both be right, sort of. It may be that the BV9 screen has 1080p capability but is only being fed a 1080i signal from the electronics. I can't speak about BV9, but this is apparently the case with BS3 and BV7. I do know that those two units running 3.x firmware only output 1080i from the electronics and apparently rely on the screen to deinterlace

  • Re: Beovision 7 DVD Player Problem

Well, I am in the States and presumably have a BV7 MKIII, since the earlier models were not sold over here. Neverthless, the DVD mechanism has the same problem that a number of other posters above have also confirmed. So it seems to be a universal fault common to earlier as well as the current production variants of the BV7. One would think that B&O

  • Re: What rear speakers for surround sound

My primary AV system (BS3 and 65" plasma) has BL5s as front speakers. I originally used a BL7-2 for the center channel, BL 6000s for side surround speakers, and BL 4000s for rear channel speakers, but was never 100% happy with the results. The BL5s had a cleaner, crisper sound profile, and the older 6000s and 4000s sounded dull in combination with

  • Re: BeoVision 7-40 Versus BeoVision 9

I will have to qualify myself up front by saying that, in general, I prefer plasma screens to LCD screens. In fact, I have a 65" Panny plasma driven by a BS3 and find the picture quality to be stunning. The BS3 thinks that the Panny is a BV4 and identifies and controls it as such. That having been said, I recently bought a BV7 as a second system

  • Re: Is BV7 Beovision sold without speaker in US?

The official line from B&O is that the BV7 must be sold with either the BL7-2 or BL7-4 speaker systems. As a matter of fact, the BV7 comes packaged with a second power cord and a 1' Powerlink cable, both clearly intended to connect a BL7-2/4. However, most dealers are willing to fudge the paperwork and sell the BV7 without the speaker. When

  • Beovision 7 DVD Player Problem

I recently purchased a Beovision 7 (production 10/2007) and am absolutely delighted with its performance, except for one annoying mechanical problem. When the DVD player is opened, the vertical door produces an audible clunk sound and a visible jerk, one clunk when it opens and two when it closes. The DVD tray itself is completely silent. What is very
