Have you checked all the tantalum capacitors (the red ones) on the CD4 pcb? Sometimes they can fail (mostly short circuit) although I have seen some odd faults cause by bad tantalums which have gone intermittent.

TX2 does have datalink, it's just not connected due to the factory fitted RCA leads! TX2 uses the same control PCB as the other datalink enabled beograms.

Peter: And there was me thinking you were going to say the video section of an Avant!! No, actually that's fairly straightfoward! Remove back cover, unplug plugs and remove 4 screws. Open bin, place video in bin, close bin. Replace back cover. Takes five minutes at most.

Keith Saunders: Did I see a little "french" in your response "sans" ? sans = without? I do not speak French, so I may be incorrect! The VCR module is still too smelly to be brought inside, even after cleaning the residue off the power supply with isopropyl alcohol! Luckily I did not really use it.

Although some of the first video projectors used conventional filament lamps, yours will have a discharge or metal halide type of lamp. The price of the replacement lamp you stated would be about right for an discharge lamp. It's not a straightfoward swap to put a halogen lamp in a projector. The power supply for the discharge lamp is current regulated

Beosound 9000 is one product that which would be a real challenge to dismantle without guidance. Not that it's difficult, just very clever.

Start by resoldering the three main supply filter capacitors on the PCB next to the transformer. These often break their connections from thermal and mechanical stress in this model, and can cause many strange faults.

Hi all, I have a friend who has broken the cartridge contacts in a Beogram 4000 turntable. Does any one here have a parts machine they wish to sell the tonearm from? Any assistance is appreciated.
