I'm using Adobe Audition. on Mac it's actually free as a beta-version. It's available on PC and Mac. Personally I think this is one of the best and easiest sample editors on the market. Easy interface, fast and high quality, and cutting, editing tracks is simple and intuitive.
Wow, thanks for mentioning

My task was simpler -in a way- as all the tapes were of the same type and the max volume level was same in all tapes. They were old listening comprehensions and the school (=my work) wanted to have cd-copies instead of the open-reel tapes. The tapes were also monophonical so as I used a stereo input I connected two decks (serviced Tandberg Series 15

I have used Audacity for quite some time for transfering tapes (both cassette and open-reel) to digital. It does it work well and I have had no bigger problems with it. In some points the user interface has it's flows, at least in Mac version you can't scroll the window by mouse gestures, in some version save -dialogue might act up (key shortcuts
Anyway the new place has more than double the space, (--) I have practically no existing furniture I'll want to have there, nobody to tell me what to put where, and a couple of carloads of B&O kit... are you jealous yet?
Yes, very jealous!

I don't know this model but most Beovisions can store any volume level for default, it might be set to 0. Or it might be set to external speakers only etc. You will need a remote to find that out.

Beolab 4500 has also a 4-pin speakerlink connection. You can use that to connect the speakers to the BM5500. The BC8000 is a cut-down model and it has only 2-pin connection for passive speakers. You can use that but the displays in the speakers will not work.

Unfortunately I never got around the problem. At some point it stopped working at all. Since that I have bought some one or two more LC1s and some Innovus Smart Dimmers (the one at the top) which are B&O compatible. I use only one at the moment but I am determined to use them someday! I can't believe it being anything impossible to fix - I just

Eugene: that's what I call an ergonomic, easy-to-use and speaker-positioning-wise setup! Very impressive score for the winter. kallasr: very nice setup. Is the room very low or why it looks like have you put the whole system that near to the ceiling?
I just don't like the idea of letting this out from my hands like that in case whatever is wrong snaps back in place later.
Are you going to let that BG out of your hands at some time? I doesn't really need a BG7000 but the other three parts of my 7k system on the shelf look a bit lonely without the
