Hi there, It's probably the remote - the volume button is stuck. You can see if the remote's transmitting by using a digital/phone camera and looking at the remote's ir senders. I use Bose Quiet Comfort and am very pleased, maybe it's because I'm cloth-eared but they sound great to me. A8's are uncomfortable for my ears and I'm forever untangling the blasted things.
