[quote user="Kokane81"] After having some of these woofers replaced there was more to it then just swapping faulty woofers. depending what serial number the speakers are you will need certain caps and resistors changing. (some of these being surface mounted) then they needed to be re jigged using an oscilliscope. Plus the woofers werent badly

Every BS9000 that I have had will play CD-R. I use a crappy scratched CD-R copy of Brothers in Arms or Dark Side of the Moon as a test for every B&O CD player that I sell. Don't know about CD-RW as I don't use them.

.....er! Why not try a screwdriver?

The arrow adjusters under the machine will not help here. They simply bias the CD mech suspension to allow for the various orientation possibilities with different mounting options. I suggest that you return them to the recommended settings. The clamper cover has sagged slightly so that it is no longer paralel to the bed of the machine. It needs lifting

Possibly the rubber band driving the draw system has broken or come off the pulleys. After two years, I would guess that there is little chance of a free repair under warranty! Menber nobby (Neil Briffett) does repairs and he lives near you in Farnham. I suggest you send him a PM or email.

I did raise the stylus guard issue with Axel and in his answer he indicated that he would be making the cantilever slightly shorter to accomodate the stylus guard. I used to supply quite a few SMMC4's in the "pre Axel" days. I quite liked them as they were brighter and a bit more "in your face" than the B&O equivalent. I

It does look short, that must be an illusion or a development model. The supplied cantilever is actually a mm or so longer than the original, as is the SMMC cantilever, apparently. Axel has told me that in tests, the slightly longer cantilever was found to be better "for compliance"

I received my 4 MMC4's back from Axel this morning. He has rebuilt them for free and they look OK now. I have one playing in a BG6500 right now and it sounds and looks 100% to my ears and eyes. The diamond would appear to be riding in the groove at the correct angle. I have just sent him another mixed batch for refurb.
