From very limited experience (I have only heard the 5700 playing once and not in good conditions) I would favour the 3800. I have a pair of these! Very interesting speaker as it was a UK only model designed to take advantage of some bizarre purchase tax regulations by fitting a really big woofer - bigger than that in the 5700. Take it to another room and plug it in. Then press SOUND, 1, STORE on your Beolink 1000 when the 8500 is in Stand by.

I understood the TV did that itself when you specify sub-woofer. I may be wrong.

I don't think you can. There seems to be only one option - Click on your name at the top right where it says signed in as and the option is there. Mine only has US English - but that is Microsoft for you.

I have mine attached to the TV via the sub-woofer connection. It plays when I am just using by BC2 for music and also plays when the channel I am watching is not Dolby Digital - or indeed Dolby at all.

They will both work though the software in the 9500 will be more modern and could be an advantage. The Beocenter 9000 stopped production in 1988 so is getting pretty old these days. There are problems with the laser assemblies in both models and parts are unobtainable so getting one is always a bit of a risk. I would certainly make sure that any one
