Two things spring to mind. 1. The power consumption of the Avant DVD is about 135W . 2. Will it accept 60Hz? It will be on the sticker on the back if it will. It strikes me that the power transformer you are running is not up to the job.Maybe there is simply not the power to fire up the tube.

From the reference to Beosound 2000, is this a US MX5000 we are talking about? Very different model I believe.

Very silly! B&O stores are supposed to be friendly and welcoming - encouraging foot fall is a crucial part of the business. make a store somewhere that you are wary about approaching is bad for both the dealer and the brand. I would contact the store manager by email and repport your unhappiness. I am sure he will address the issue.

It is for the serenata - it gives an iTunes like ability to browse by artwork instead of names. Never use this on iTunes as I find text easier. Looks pretty though!
-
Yes it will work but you need to set it to audio one way with the Century/2000. No idea about the conversion of the MX - sorry!

Perfectly fair point! Hi-Fi World have now done a number of articles on B&O - both old and new - and all have been well worth reading. They also seem slightly less nutty about power cables and connectors than some magazines which gives me hope.

I agree! Many thanks to King Street - my set up was clearly a challenge so I hope it didn't cause too many problems! Delighted with the remote and would recommend King Street to anyone. Friendly and informative and, quite frankly, a bunch of really nice guys.

I am led to believe that they work with the iPhone as well!

Yes. The amplifier in the 9500 is OK - about 30 - 40 W RMS so perfectly capable.
-
It may also be worth getting the 9500 serviced - components going out of spec could lead to problems like this.
