Different codes - Chris was right - of course! I have a special code converter which allows you to use a Beolink 1000 to control a variety of older types of equipment - Beomaster 6000/8000, Beocenter7000 etc and Beomaster 5000. All use different codes.

The BS4 is the way to go in my opinion. The HDD in the 3200 is not that big and you have to physically name all the CDs manually on the system, which is simply mind numbing! Not sure is the answer . I might be able to find out later this evening though as I have a code converter which works for at least the 5000. I'll see what it says about the 3000. Chris is probably correct though.

Very interesting looking device - and not an iPhone clone which is good. The lack of a keyboard will frustrate people who text - I don't so doesn't worry me! I don't care about a lack of camera either as if I want pictures, I will use a proper camera, whether compact or SLR depending on situation. To be fair, this would not be the phone

Actually Beolab 4000s have just been updated and now use what appear to be the same amplifiers as those in the Beolab 4. The sound pressure produced by the new spec is just the same as the old ones - this is due to power measurement again (yes - Peter is banging on about wattage again! ) The class AB amplifiers in the old 4000 are about 50% efficient

One of the common faults in these decks is the solenoid . The fail safe position for a solenoid is with the arm up. If the arm traverses, stops and doesn't lower, and there is no relatively loud click, it could be the solenoid.
