  • Re: Cartidge

Soundsmith SMMC4 is a very useful cartridge! Not as good as a MMC2 but pretty close! And a lot cheaper!

  • Re: CD50 - I am a happy chappie!

By the way, did he tell you about the fact it only has one DAC? It always amuses me to think that for half the time, each channel is effectively doing nothing! (not completely true but amuses me!)

  • Re: Pentas vs. RL 140 redlines

Surprised - MS150s do have a fantastically flat frequency response and good bass extension. I doubt RL140s are as good. I must confess however to not liking the sound of MS150s as much as other speakers - something about the top end - but I have been informed that this might be down to my Beomaster 8000 rather than the speaker.

I agree - he is a bit of a star! He machined a part for my Beocord 5000 (the 70s one) as you can no longer get bits for these. Actually they are also impossible to get a normal repairer to do much more than run away screaming when presented with one of these machines! Mine now works perfectly!

I imagine the residents in Antarctica are with the scientific surveys there. Somewhere I would love to visit.

  • Re: BEO5 configuration software

I do believe that the software will be available sooner rather than later! It is not difficult to use and for those not happy to do this, the dealer network will be there to help. I do wonder if they are not actually building up a useful database of templates which should be helpful. I love my Beo5 - a really good addition to the B&O range.

  • Re: BEO5 configuration software

It is really up to B&O whether they distribute the software. It does not need a connection to the central server to work but I can understand why B&O and the dealers are keen to keep it in store. Unfortunately the best way to program this device is in the home and after trying various formats. I think this will come once the software is more

  • Re: BEO5 configuration software

It is a stand alone program in what is called msi form which extracts and installs automatically. You don't need a password or log in - but you do have to work off line - allegedly.
