I would ask your girlfriend to make the decision! I would choose 4000s - though probably the older ones rather than the ICE ones. If you are wall mounting the 4000s, they will be fine. They are only about one third the volume of the 5000s though so you will notice a difference!

The lead is quite common but you must get the correct one! There are three sorts! The first is using the RCAs as inputs - this will do! The second is using the DIN as the input and the RCA as output - no use! The third has 4 RCA plugs on and can be used both ways. One or three are equally good!

Do you have a B&O TV as well? I take it that you want to listen to radio and TV sound on your main speakers?
-
Tried mine - a little odd as it is actually registered as V.Tape 2. But it needs the Go button first.
-
Afraid not! I have the service manual for the Thorens TD124 but this is the Thorens one and not the B&O one! I do have the service manual also for the Acoustical version. I am negotiating with a source at present and am asking for user manuals in particular - I'll keep you posted!

Congratulations!! (Hope he remembered!!)

I'll play with mine tonight! An early BC2. I have a feeling Chris is correct though. Of course a Beo5 would be able to get around this!

Of course the best thing to do is to re-skin a Beocord 5000 which has a much better tape deck! Proper VU meters and a non auto reverse deck. In some people's minds, the best cassette deck made by B&O. (Bit of controversy designed to annoy any 9000 owners!) There are two Beocord 7000s on Ebay at present going for the usual laughably small amounts
-
Dillen: Two different tapedecks were used during production. I don't know if they are interchangable. Martin I have a suspicion that if all you are doing is changing the cases, it won't make a lot of difference! Isn't it actually the same deck as in the 9500 - there were two types used there as well.

Classic has arrived - that was quick - and it is engraved!! They have changed the interface - nicer again - seems more grown up but as I am at work, it has no music on it! Maybe I will put the old one up as a prize though I must remember to wipe the music off it....
