The VX5000 is made by Hitachi to a B&O design. There wasn't really a corresonding model that I am aware of. I would suggest asking Tim Jarman at Beocentral. He is fixing mine next week!

I am changing the topic of thread as it appears as it seems a bit negative. I think it has served a useful purpose though as clearly some did not realise that the rating system existed. I hope this is approved of!

I don't mind what people do really! If they want to express an opinion on something, a rating or a post is fine. I suppose I would regard a 1 star rating as meaning that the thread was rubbish and so would rarely ( certainly on Beoworld! ) use that. But this is a free site , so post as you will. I can't see SACD making it now. I am sure the DVD formats will replace this.

It rather depends on what you mean by non B&O. It works with Lutron equipment but that uses B&O codes. The Beo5 is not yet able to operate other equipment as the software is not enabled. Yet!

Couple of questions: 1. Which 4000? There are two - a lovely 1970s one with single cassette deck based around a simplified version of the old Beocord 5000 and a Beomaster 2200 - and the 80s very sleek but ultimately Japanese twin cassette affair. Quite an interesting machine and the only twin cassette sold by B&O but actually made in Japan. 2. Does
