You need to be very gentle when prying out the bulb from its plastic housing - the plastic clips are very brittle and WILL break easily. Perhaps Dillen has spare bulbs, if not, contact me, and I'll help you convert it to LED's, which last a lifetime. Menahem

Hi all, I noticed this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/?ViewItem&item=110299153458 Check the Seller's other items. The Seller is parting out a whole BG4002. I have no relation to the seller, but I'm sure that members here would be pleased to pick up a few parts in good condition. Menahem Yachad Israel

Hi Harold My late uncle had a Beogram 1000 (unfortunately stolen). He did keep spare parts (not stolen), and this was one of them. Perhaps the more knowledgeable pundits could determine if this NOS Maysonic stylus would be useful as a SP stylus replacement. The SP's are apparently much more useful, as the styluses could be replaced (if I remember

The single most useful tool to assist in identifying bad capacitors is called an ESR Meter. It measures the ESR - Equivalent Series Resistance - of a capacitor - in-circuit, so you do not have to unsolder the capacitor to measure it. Google "EVB ESR" to get to a super, affordable meter made in Portugal, by a gentleman who offers superb after

Hi Vaughn, This is an incredibly beautiful unit - one of my favorites. There is a lot to be done under the covers, if you want to take advantage of the sound which it is capable of producing. I wrote a thread on the restoration of my unit - see here: http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/thread/75132.aspx If you have any specific questions on the repair

Hi all, I'd just like to share some interesting information on changes to the capacitors on vintage B&O equipment. B&O was a loyal customer for many years of Philips Electrolytic capacitors - the turquoise cylindrical units with the diagonal stripe. In the picture, the UPPER capacitor is a 1970's Philips type 20 - middle-quality 85-degree

There appear to be misconceptions about this fine piece of equipment! I'll try to shed some light on the subject. 1. What is the CD4 Demodulator? It is a 4-Channel RIAA amplifier, and IMHO, one of the best in the world, even compared with all the fancy new digital op-amps available today. Its transparency and clarity is surpassed by only the best

Hi Dave, Thanks for your clear and well-written reply! I now understand that a substitute head should have very similar (if not identical) electrical characteristics, in order to do the job smoothly. I already have a donor machine, and its head is in worse condition than mine. The original head (even brand-new) wasn't a great performer. I remember

Hi Alex, I have restored (as in completely rebuilt) about 15 B&O units, all from the 1970's. Mostly Turntables and Receivers. I love working on them. All have had a complete electrical rebuild, and some cosmetic and mechanical repairs/upgrades. A couple were absolute junkyard pieces before I started work on them. (I got 2 from a German radio

Hi Eugenio and Dave, I have already aligned the azimuth to the best possible sound - still not what I'd expect. What do you mean by setting up the head bias? I'm not familiar with tape-terms at all? Menahem
