David: I'm interested to see how the dealers will be trained to justify the difference between the DVD2 and the HDR2, seems the HDR2 costs a shade more. "Oh it's because the DVD2 is actually a Philips machine" I'll take the HDR2 please. Before more of B&O's electronics become re-cased, half-arsed electronics with a zero

Bingo: It is really a big shame and respectless to all buyers that they just made a box around a Philips DVD/harddisk recorder with just a almost useless analogue tuner and then ask four times the price !!!! And really, can 't you program it with a timer record? What is the use of the product then? B&O gets more and more focussing on the people

David: Oh it is a terrible shame this. Thank god they still create incredible sounding speakers. THANK GOD. Are they not aware of all of us B&O addicts?? What are we addicted to? Brilliance! Brilliance doesn't happen with this expensive new philosophy. problem is that the audio and video businesses have converged- very difficult to survive doing

mbee: David: The logos are 100% Philips. The entire unit is Philips apart from some minor tweaks to the user interface and the exterior HDR2 shell. Those hideous plugs at the front are also 100% Philips (hence the DV plug appearing to be a first for B&O - it isn't B&O). It appears that B&O did not put alot of effort into this product

Alex: Not only that, but when using BeoLab 9s, you can also use a 7-4 centre channel without any resultant 'lumps' in the sound-stage, and the 7-4 is ultimately, far far better as a centre channel than the 7-1 or 7-2. Each to their own of course! but on anotehr thread we are duscussing the merits of 7.1 v 7.4 and in most cases we cant tell the

Alex: I don't think anybody should be leaving the forum just due to a difference in opinion. Everybody's entitled to their own beliefs, and even if others strongly disagree with them (as is the case here), you should stick by your opinion, and not let it affect you in unwanted ways... If one posts on a forum one has to accept that individuals

kawo: Hi, I have both at home in the moment to find out which is the better one for my setup (lab 5 plus lab3 in the back). I always thought that the 7.4 must be the much better match with the lab5 than the 7.1 I did a quick check on Sunday, but suprise surprise, the difference is not that big! I will run a much more detailed test tonight as I have

wirralsimon: David I think something is getting forgotten here. It's about enjoying the music. If the Beolab 5 sounds better to you, and you prefer it to other speakers then it is a better speaker for you. Some people may agree, others may not and that's cool. If the Belab 5s aren't to synergys tastes, then he is right too. There is no law

Firstly, its what suits you, so best to have a home demo of both setups. I have been fortunate in having tried all the B&O speakers in various configurations. The lab 2 sub provides an earthmoving effect for movies. I suppose it depends how much bass you want . I find the bl9 offer enough bass for the vast majority unless you like being shaken to

Beobird: I thought Toshiba or Mitsubishi has dropped the SED technology because they are busy with the better laser-tv technology. http://www.arasor.net/pdfs/NYT%20-%20Laser%20TV%20June%202007.pdf No they dropped it because they could not make it at a price that made it a sensible option compared to lcd and plasma as the article states. Laser is having
