I have 4000s and have listened to 8000s extensively. The 8000s are superior in my view by a fair margin. Similar levels of bass but the 8000s seem more detailed and a little less boomy than the 4000s. The 4000s will also shriek earlier when going loud! Distortion in the top end I suppose. I have not heard the new 4000s with the ICE amplifiers though

Yes, it will work with a 9500. It acts as if it is Tape 2 and responds to normal Datalink commands. I believe it takes a 12V supply. I think the original poster is referring to the CMM-10 which was a US model designed to work with systems like the 7000 system. It is indeed based on a Sony car CD changer with a clever B&O Datalink interface. Seem to crop up in the US from time to time. I have seen one in the UK. It needs to go in a cupboard because it looks just like a Sony CD
