• Re: Starting my Beosystem 8000 restoration.

Hi D, I love working on the vintage stuff !!!! My personal favorites are Panasonic FM Radial Electrolytic capacitors for anything above 10uF, Wima MKS2 Polyesters for 10uF and smaller. Yes - I replace Electrolytics with Non-Polar Polyesters wherever possible. In the audio stage, I use Elna Silmic, or Nichicon Muse, and for the large power Cans - Panasonic

  • Re: Beovox S45 and S45-2

There's a simple solution to those sticking balls! Use Silicon Spray on the balls, and on the receptacles, before you replace the grille. Thereafter, you can remove and reattach the grilles with ease, and confidence that nothing will break! Menahem

  • Re: BC9300 Tape Belts replaced and Capacitor Upgrade

Hi Peter, I've never seen the inside of a BC9500, so I don't know. If you have close-up, high resolution pics of the BC9500 PCB's, I'll take a good look for comparison, and let you know. I don't know when B&O started sourcing Korean components, but that was, without question, a severely retrograde step. The only ROE components

  • Re: BC9300 Tape Belts replaced and Capacitor Upgrade

Hi Martin, Here below, you can see all the new Nichicon and blue Vishay BC axial capacitors on the Amplifier board, but I didn't get around to replacing the 4558 OpAmps yet. I actually have a Philips CD650 (TDA1541) with the original 4558 OpAmps, and I added DIP sockets to be able to try out many different OpAmps. I tried at least 20 different types

  • Re: BC9300 Tape Belts replaced and Capacitor Upgrade

    I replaced the 3 belts, and the Tape works perfectly again. I'm a repeat customer of Atlantic Systems who supplied the required parts: 2732101 Large flat belt 8.0" X .196 X .031 2732085 Medium Round Belt 5.8" X .070 X .070 ( 1.8mm ) The Small Round Belt 2.7" x .070 x .070 ( 1.8mm ) was supplied by MarrsCommunications I also replaced

  • Re: Beogram 4002 - new owner questions

Take a look at my post http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/thread/94148.aspx In restoring mine, I came across just about every fault that could be in this deck, short of total mechanical breakdown. It's best read with the turntable open in front of you, so you can check everything I wrote about. Check the 2nd article down ToneArm not lowering, where

Hi Martin, Thanks! I actually had the unit disassembled, and yes, the one belt is tricky! Does anyone on the forum have the belts in stock, or B&O part numbers? Menahem

  • BC9300 Tape won't play and Capacitor Upgrade

Hi all, My BeoCenter 9300 cassette tape does not play. When touching the TAPE1 control, I can hear the motor start spinning, but no normal clicks and clacks. On the right-side panel, STOP, << and >> illuminate. After a few seconds, STOP extinguishes, and on the left-side panel, RECORD illuminates. RECORD continues to illuminate, without

  • Re: Beogram 4002 - new owner questions

Hi Craig That hum is absolutely not acceptable. I've restored a couple of these magnificent units, as well as of other makes, and no way should you hear any type of hum at all. These are SILENT decks, and the silence is a rare pleasure. What you do hear, is pure music. That said, the problem may NOT be in the cabling, but somewhere else in the circuit

  • Re: B&O Noob and his stuff.

Read carefully, and absorb each instruction before doing it - anything which can break, will..... Underneath the BM1600 are 4 bolts - unscrew them. Then, pull the Tuning Knob off, firmly. Then, GENTLY pry the dial-glass (actually acrylic) faceplate out and away from the receiver body. Notice that it is suspended and held by 2 black plastic clips below
