These decks come apart very easily. The wooden surround pulls forward and then you can remove all the metal panels. It takes a little practice to put them back. I wouldn't be too surprised if you find the old belt somewhere in there!!

It often gets stuck!! I would try some vigorous twizzling!!

Have you played with the fine speed control?

Any reason why we couldn't use a Beomaster 4400 and a single pair of speakers. Use one type of cable from Speaker one and another from Speaker two. The output is identical and the speaker output selected by depressing one of two keys. Would be easy to be made a blind test.

Martin (Dillen on site ) can get you belts. You will need the Type number. There are actually two belts - one for the platter and one that drives the arm. I would get those first and see if there are any other problems at that point! Nice purchase!

I have named my channels as then I don't have to remember the numbers. BBC1 is always BBC1 and Channel 4 is always Channel 4. I suppose the obvious way is to move Channel 49 to the Channel 2 position if you have deleted 2, but I am not sure why you would want to have 50 channels all just identified by number.

You can certainly set the later BS9000 to slave mode where only the CD changer is active. Not too sure how one would work this in a room when both the BC2 and the BS9000 were, but I dare say it is possible!

5 pin as there is no remote control either on the 1700 or indeed the CDX. I use a CDX every day and they are good sounding decks despite being 14 bit! By far the most suitable for older equipment as you have all the controls available. I use mine with a Beomaster 4400.
