  • Re: ipod connection to BL8000

What is the system in your bedroom? It is probably easier to attach the iPod via a dock to the Aux input on the system rather than having wires to the speakers. The above suggestion is the simplest if you have nothing else in the room though.

  • Re: how much for beocenter 3500 and speakers

Just started scanning the manual. Taking the front off is not as simple as you would think! It is easier on a 3000 than a 4400 as the front panel is flat, but it is not to be sneezed at! I think the connecting of speaker 1 wires together is a very sensible one - or just use speaker 2.

Ah! You have a Beolab 1700 amplifier! This was a variant of the Beomaster 1100 but was divided into two parts - a tuner - the Beomaster 1700 - and the amplifier - the Beolab 1700. I am sure Tim would be able to resurrect that for you. I'll have a word with him tonight. The only problem I can see is that the cost of getting it to him and the repair

  • Re: Beolab 9 Speakers

Just had a quick read through the thread, and don't really agree! I note the Beolab 5 being touted - I agree with soundproof that we have to be careful not to automatically just say get 5s; after all, I have not bought any yet! - and I agree with you that discounting 5s, the 9s are streets ahead of the other B&O active speakers. I do have a

Where are you based? I take it you mean the glass topped receiver with the caterpillar tracks? The electronics of this are pretty simple and I am sure can be fixed. The usual problem is that the mechanical clutches go so the buttons don't work. If near London, I am sure Tim Jarman can fix this for you.

Having just dismantled a Beomaster 4400, I can heartily agree with this!

  • Re: Beolab 9 Speakers

If you heard the 9s in a dealer, chances are that they were badly set up. Space constraints and the fact that some of the junior staff seem to set the switches to maximise bass seem to be a common thread. At our speaker demo, the 9s sounded pretty average to my ears - unfortunately I was late arriving as I had to go back for my camera. When I went the

ArgyleMoss: Anyone got a service manual for a beocenter 3500? I do, but it will take me a little time to scan it! Seems to be quite detailed!

  • Re: Beolab 9 Speakers

I know 5s have bass power, but it is their ability to disappear that impresses me. I also find that the bass is just not as oppressive as the 9s - to be fair that is usually because the 9s are not ideally situated or poorly set up. The self set up facility of the 5s can correct quite a few ills!
