• Re: Beogram CD 5500 no power

I believe it is a thermal fuse because there aren't any proper fuses on the secondary side (just some fusible resistors). First and foremost I would be interested in why it failed - at least check all rectifiers for shorts before powering up. There's a small chance of a failed transformer as well, I guess... Generally thermal fuses are one-shot

  • Re: Beo4 hidden settings?
Only thing I've seen is those 'range reducer' plastic caps being used so I'm guessing that my Beo4 is simply faulty?
I would think so too, I've never heard of a power setting in a Beo4. Maybe it has been dropped and something has come loose... it's easy to open up so perhaps you could

  • Re: Beolink 7000 battery

It's probably the charging method. If a dumb charger is dimensioned so that it won't cook NiCd batteries no matter how long you charge them, it'll never get NiMH batteries full.

  • Re: Removal of Beolab 8000 top plate.

The service manual is a little bit like the laconic "remove engine and transmission" stage in some car shop manuals... not too helpful unless you've seen it done before. Been a while, but I think I started at the bottom where you can more easily spread the side of the fret a little. Then, slide an old credit card or something similar between

Check out Beovox 5000 service manual on site - it contains the schematics for at least three different old Beovoxes that had the connector for the real cubes. Apparently they all manage with a single cap in series with the cube. (I believe the original cubes have a filter cap inside as well?)

I think I would've just let the stand poke through the insides to the opposite corner, that would automatically align the cube as well... Main site -> products -> user & service manuals, but you'll need to upgrade your membership before you can access them. The adapter part of the schematic is really simple though, I don't think anybody will kill me if I supply just that as an appetizer. The service manual is in Danish anyway
I've just tried touching the rubber prong under the glass panel and it does nothing. Touching the other prongs achieves their function, so I guess it's a fault on that board ?
Looks like it. If all the other controls work and the prong itself seems fine (I believe it is some kind of conductive

Great project with lots of clever construction ideas! I especially like the fuse holder clips I think I would've just let the stand poke through the insides to the opposite corner, that would automatically align the cube as well...

  • Re: HiFi Stereo Amplifier 608

I only now realized that we have the user & service manuals for this amplifier on site I wasn't aware that it actually has a transistorized preamplifier built in (circuit board 915 H 23 B, two per set). Apparently it can be changed between dynamic (2 mV) pickup and crystal (50 mV) pickup levels by replacing some kind of a plugin board, which
