Rather pricey for a repair in my opinion. Don't give up after the first try, after all you have a matching system and it sounds like you really like it. Do you have any idea what is wrong with the amplifier?

I would definitely go for the Beosystem 4500. Its a beautiful design that will never age. Also as seperates is easier to find a replacement if one part decides to give up. I bought a Beomaster 4400 (teak) in mint condition, not a scratch, wood like new and matching teak Beovox 5700 speakers (also mint) for under a pound!! Still working like a dream!!

Peter : The CDX uses 14 bit 4X oversampling so I guess some of the warm sound will be distortion! I like it though! Well there aren't any Cd players from that era obviuosly but you can still connect a cd player to those systems.
