Actually that is quite reassuring! They think it will still be working in 18 months! I am sure the unlocking tricks will have developed nicely by then!!

Actually to be fair, the phone bit works OK. But it doesn't offer much more than a relatively basic phone would. As with most phones, dialling is usually done via the memory. It doesn't seem to offer the synching with the BC6000 like the Serene though which was one thing I really liked. It is very very nice to hold though!

Contacted by the buyer - clearly he decided he was having this one and was unlucky enough to be in an auction where someone else also decided at the last minute he was having it as well! However this looks as good a 4000 as I have seen and it does have a MMC20CL which is itself worth a fair bit in good condition. I do hope the seller packs it well.

cozza: Beosound 9000 is one product that which would be a real challenge to dismantle without guidance. Not that it's difficult, just very clever. And there was me thinking you were going to say the video section of an Avant!!

Replacing the foam is certainly possible to do one's self but does need to be done carefully. The problem with the Penta is that there are a lot of drivers! This means replacing the drivers will be expensive and although this would be the best idea, it may well be just too expensive. Reconing the speakers with new foam will be about £25 to

wtlc2zpx: The advantage of the serenata, is that it has ICE speaker and that you can use it as a music player, without earphones, if you are in your office or in a holel room.
