On my Beosystem 1 and Avant, the actual V.AUX command on the Beo4 is not used for certain connected devices when using the V.AUX source input. Rather, the "TV" button on the Beo4 is pressed repeatedly to toggle between the TV and V.AUX sources. Unfortunately, this applies to the new "Apple Remote" source when connected to V.AUX.

Similarly, I was recently watching "Battlestar Galactica" on HD DVD on my Avant. The show was filmed intentionally with an unsteady camera and with the color slightly off to achieve a certain look and effect. The Avant seems to try to "correct" these aspects and gets a bit confused. Has anyone else noticed this?

The software update is the 4.7j for Avant and Beosystem 1. The upgrade cost $500 USD, and a dealer or authorized technician must come to the home. I'm in the U.S. There is no fast scroll. "Apple Remote" shows up as a source under either V.AUX or STB. It can also control a mac mini or ipod dock.

Good question about the Beo4 control. I was confused at first, too. Actually, you don't use the "menu" command on the Beo4. I'm at my office and don't have a Beo4 in front of me, but as I recall you use the "exit" command on the Beo4 for the menu function of the Apple Remote. You use the "go" button on the Beo4

I have an Apple TV connected to my Avant in one room and a mac mini connected to a projector via Beosystem 1 in another room. With the new Beosystem 1/Avant software update, both can be controlled with the Beo4. I actually, think that it's better to spend just a little more for a mac mini rather than the Apple TV. The mac mini is more versatile

With my Beosystem 1 and Avant, I have perfect control of the Toshiba HD DVD player with my Beo4. At $99.00 USD, it's very little investment for great HD. I, too, have considered the forthcoming Samsung combo player, but I think the price will be outrageous. I also have a PS3, but I really think that HD DVD is worth considering since it's broken

I recently had my Beosystem 1 and Avant sofware updated to code converter database version 4.7j. The new update adds "Apple Remote" as an option under "External Sources." There is no fast-scrolling. Otherwise, the control via Beo4 is excellent. While B&O has advised that the "Apple Remote" option is intended only for

It must be done by a dealer or authorized B&O technician. I paid $500 USD for the recent update. It sounds like you might need the actual chips updated on yours as well if your current version is fairly old (which it sounds like it is).

In the service menu, there is an option to select "NTSC/PAL" under SERVICE MENU > MONITOR > PICTURE ADJUSTMENTS > COLOR SYSTEM. There are two options "NTSC" or "NTSC/PAL." The default is "NTSC." I'm not sure what this would do and do not want to attempt changing this setting myself. I'm waiting

Upgrading the BS1 software to 4.7j will give you control over the Sony BDPS1, which probably uses the same remote codes. I think that the only way that you can get a signal from a 480p or 1080i (upconverting) standard def dvd player is by selecting "Generic YPbPr."Thus, you won't have any IR control. If you are outputting a 480p signal
