  • Re: Black Beomaster 4400 cabinet anyone?

Yes, as Marc shows, the Beomaster 1400 (and Beocord 1500 cassettedeck) was available in the grey Nextel finish, which is a rubber-like surface consisting of thousands of small rubber balls blasted onto a pre-glued surface. It gives a matt, grey surface that scratches easily and is a pain to clean. Piano black finished were introduced years later but

  • Re: Veneer colour codes?

It's not a rule that it's white if there is no veneer coding. It is just possible. Martin

  • Re: Beogram 42VF - some questions

Wow, a post about vintage stuff. Nice ! That's a wonderful deck. Most of these have an envelope with the schematics etc. glued to the inside of the bottom plate. I suppose you already checked that so here is a bit of info: The little board shown on the left is a blind-plate to fit if the RIAA is unplugged. It would have been the correct way of bypassing

  • Re: what is it?

That is one of several different brands, building turntables, more or less based on B&O's Beogram 1000. We saw a couple of these before: http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/t/33266.aspx Martin

  • Re: Old service sticker

Eugene, Oh, so it was you who bought that case from Thomas in Illinois. Yes, that set has travelled around a bit. If I remember correctly, there were one or two more things in the same case, right ? At least that service sticker tells the date. Martin

  • Re: Old service sticker

It was a long time ago, that's for sure. The phone number Vester 127 tells a little in that it refers to the manual central "Vester" for the West part of the bridge quarters of Copenhagen. Some parts of Copenhagen were among the first parts of Denmark to be automated, other parts were the last. Vester was a demi- (= half-) automatic central

  • Seeking volunteer Century owners

I could use one or two owners of Beosound Century that would volunteer in testing new cassette belts. Belt, postage etc. is free. All I ask for in return is a few words on the fit. (There are no mounting instructions at this point). Reply on PM please. Martin

  • Re: Beovox M70 Rescue & Adoption

Nice work on the pins and cardboard. However, I think I will steer clear of the pattern choice discussion and just ask if that is proper speaker cloth or just a piece of clothing fabric ? My concern is that if it is not speaker cloth, it will not be sonically transparent and it will eat all treble. Get someone to hold the grills in front of the speakers

  • Re: Veneer colour codes?

It's not part of the actual serial number but often found stamped on the same label as f.e. P2 or P3. It's not easy to say what the original finish was on the Beocenter 1800 since there are no obvious codes but it could easily have been white. Martin
