Seems like a lot of money to upgrade a small screen which was not that great a picture to start with. I doubt HD is going to make it much better but am happy to be proved wrong by anyone who has tried it.

If you are not experienced in TV repair, I would be very wary about digging inside. The voltages can be lethal. The set however is designed to be repaired and the boards will slide out - the service manual is on site.

You will lose the top end compared to a stereo recording - the CD4 format only goes up to 15kHz. - I cannot hear 15kHz so no problem for me! 2. CD4 records are notoriously fragile. Which timer function? You should be able to use the timer in the BV7 to switch on the BV3 - the BV3 timer will not work as the sets are linked.You simply set the BV7 timer but set the timer function to off and then set the timer function to on for the BV3. This will mean the timer in the BV7 will switch the system on but not the BV7 but this will activate

It must be the Beomaster as I cannot believe that two remotes will both stop working at once. The link room idea was if you used the Master Control Link to operate the system in another room. In this case there is a separate IR transceiver in the other room which would bypass the one in the Beomaster. But clearly you don't have one!

It does sound like the transceiver in the 6500. Do you have a link room? Can you control the BM6500 from there? Do you have a TV attached as you might be able to control it from that. Sounds like it needs a service I am afraid!
