  • Re: Beocenter 2200 - Only one speaker working when playing records???

It does sound like the cartridge is toast. Shame as this is probably the most expensive bit! It is a B&O specific cartridge and B&O no longer make them! However Soundsmith in the US do and they are sold via B&O dealers in the UK. However they are not cheap - think £150 I am afraid! I am not completely convinced I would spend £150

  • Re: Beocenter 2 question

Quite right - RCA plugs only and no Datalink. Datalink was dropped by B&O some time ago and I think the Ouverture was possibly the last model to have it.

  • Re: Beogram 4002 Glass Platter

A modification! Seems to have been an American idea and could be combined with a tone arm modification to allow the use of Grado cartridges.

  • Re: No sound on beogram rx turntable

If you get no sound at all check the following. What plug is at the end of the lead from the Beogram. There should be the red one, a white one and an earth. Most Beograms have a DIN plug but a few, the RX I think beingb one, had RCA plugs so that it could be used with non B&O amplifiers. Check the input you are plugging the cable into. Is it the

  • Re: When was the Avant made?

The first 28" Avants were made in 1994 with the 32" arriving in 1997. The Roman numerals are not when the set is made! They refer to when the original design was introduced. (I think!) There is sometimes a blue label with the month and year of manufacture on it but this probably does not hold for the older models. For information regarding

  • Re: X Active Speaker Kit problem

Check the connections in the X-tra Active box. It sounds like you are amplifying interference - in particular try looking at the shield connection where it goes into the connection. Maybe try plugging the power brick into another socket further away from the box as well. Get no hum with mine. Which speakers by the way? Beolab 3s are very sensitive!

  • Re: Beosound Century vs Beosound 1

Best to listen for yourself but obviously this is difficult. I think despite the sub woofer in the BS1 that the bass on the Century is better and that the flexibility that the tone controls give to a portable device can be important. The ability to have a cassette is also useful. However if you are not going to use cassettes, then I would consider the

  • Re: vintage vs. modern B&O products

I have complete sympathy for John's view. However to be fair, I can get far more channels on my DAB radio in acceptable quality than on my other radios. Not as good quality as a good FM signal I agree. And I am biased because about 95% of the time I use the BBC. Being able to get a good signal for World Service is a revelation and I enjoy the new
