I use a Beoport and BM-Link to switch the system over to N.Music. I then use my iTouch to select the music. The beoport is possibly unnecessary but my Mac is not next to my audio master so it is just as easy this way.

It should be. The AV7000 actually stopped the two way communication working as it took over the master functions. A Beolink 1000 would be ideal. Although the AV7000 is a US model and I cannot pretend to have experience of it, I have had both 5500 and 7000 systems which can use the same remote. Get one with the Beolink sticker on though.

Extremely difficult to say as there were a fair number of duplicates as people re-registered when the site went down at times and there were a lot of people who joined and never posted. I think it was between 5 and 6 thousand in total so a little bit to go. I think the present forum is busier though.

The advantage is that it is hardwired into the system and you can also attach Beolab speakers - I have BL3s - so it is like having another link room.

I am sure it is that. However take the platter off completely and look at what the connection lead does when you move the arm across. This can move up and will catch on the rotating platter.

Soundproof is of course quite correct, but I would get it working first using the soundcard in the Mac and see how you get on with it. To improve the sound once you have it, a separate DAC could well be a good investment. However the really important thing to do is to store your music at as good a sample rate as you can. Lossless is obviously best though
