I think it comes down to what you are hoping to get out of having a cartridge rebuilt. The consensus seems to be that the soundsmith cartridges are at least as good as the originals, and you cartridges you own already have known faults. Best to do a search on eBay and see what is available, I am using my Beosystem 5000 with my Beovox S45-2's which are a good choice amongst the earlier B&O speakers because they sound

I have a Beolab 1700 in my study, it's a nice unit, and sounds a lot beter than you would expect a 34-year old amplifier to sound! You may wish to complement it with a Beomaster 1700 tuner which was originally sold alongside it. They come up on eBay from time to time

I have connected two external (Passive) speakers to the Two-pin DIN sockets on the back of my Beovision LS5500. The problem is no sound comes out of the speakers, the sound still comes out of the internal speakers. There is no user manual on site, but there are manuals on site for simlar Beovisions. In one of the user guides I can find a cryptic reference
