It is possible it is original but in my view unlikely. The 2400 utilises red capacitors that were great new but which deteriorate with age. Usually have been replaced by now.

Sounds like the connection to the wire drive is broken - you will need to have a little look inside.

It does but the problem you will have with this system is navigating around the music. In my view it is almost impossible. I use a beoport but have my music on iTunes and use the remote facility on my iPhone to control the music - this has two way control and allows me complete access to all my tracks.

Have you noticed that the 4000 will track outwards as well as inwards! Removed in later decks! I like the index system on the 4000 too with the illuminated marker. Having said all that, it is amazing how they stripped out the 4002 and the sound remains much the same!

If you look at the back of the Beomaster, there is a socket marked Line in/out. It should have a dummy plug in it. Is it there? 2 pin plugs are fine for normal speakers - the 4 pin plugs are for multi-room control - the plugs are available from your dealer.

Sounds like the light detector system is not working - could be as simple as a new bulb! Have you got the service manual? - on site for silver members if not.

Afraid my friend is on an enforced break from restoration work. I would recommend taking up one of the offers above.
