Hi Mika, Thanks so much! Please keep me advised - of course if they can ship it quickly, even better. And I will take all 4 (if you don't want any, of course). I never know when I will have another CD player in for repair, with the TDA1541 chipset combination. BTW, what is the problem with the BM5000 - what is that chip and its symptoms? Menahem

Hi Mika, Thanks for that info. I did not know that each Txxx suffix meant a specific and unique embedded code. That explains why my T088 does not work! I've done various mods on it over the years, which give a beautiful sound. My actual problem is a flashing, or dark display, with no functions. Various tech websites point to the MAB8441P/T082 as

My BC9300 lower panel fell of and broke too, about a year ago. The 2 lowest prices I got were from Paul at Atlantic Systems, and Chris at Pyramid-Audio - around $110.

Hi all, I'm looking for the following Philips IC's for a Philips/Magnavox CD650 player. It was a top-rated CD player in the 80's, with the legendary TDA1541 DAC, and shared much in common with the BeoGram CD-X and CD5500. It would be such a pity to junk it. Yes, the black stripe is the cathode. Yes, assuming that the diagram is correct (and I would double check it against the existing diode on the PCB), the cathode goes to the collector. Menahem

Catn, Perhaps I should have mentioned this at the start: When a Horizontal Deflection Transistor (also called a HOT - Horizontal Output transistor) fails, there is usually a good cause for that. These transistors are not in the habit of just failing off the bat, one day. The normal causes are as follows and I would suggest that you check these out,

PM sent! And BTW, I just found this off a Tech database: Plays only 30cm records – Arm does not stop for 17cm Replace capacitors C12 (2.2µF) and C16 (0.1µF) in detection arm unit. Check to see if this is applicable to your type - check the ESR's of the caps.

Hi PWH I wish I could help you here, but as Martin already pointed out, there is a discrepancy in the Service Manual. Can you remove the diode, and try (with a magnifying glass), to see if there are any numbers or letters readable on the diode. Before you remove it, make sure that you mark the polarity of the diode on the PCB - the cathode is a black

I didn't even know they existed!!! You were sitting on a secret here.... Let Peter know to post this in an appropriate place - this is a very worthwhile resource for all of us. Thanks a stack! Menahem
