  • Re: Replacement subwoofers?

evman140: Well if you do not advise installing B&O speakers, do you think that you could point me in the right direction? I could, but ideally I would need the specs of the driver. Would you be able to remove the drivers and find a make/model? It'll probably be written on the back of the cabinet.

  • Re: Replacement subwoofers?

B&O don't make their own speaker drivers. Either way, putting in drivers from a better speaker in most cases will make the sound much worse. You've got to bear in mind the speaker design will be very closely tuned to the specifications of the driver, taking into account free-air resonance, sensitivity, coil travel (xmax) etc... It's not simply a case

B&O don't make speaker drivers. What make/model speakers are they? You will need to find a subwoofer driver which matches the exact specifications!

tournedos: Do you mean the dial lights (there are two of them)? They have their own fuse and it's often oxidized in its holder. It's located away from the power supply, on the underside of the main circuit board as I recall. If you mean the stereo light, it sometimes needs "warming up" in one of my 900s (I have three ) as well. The

  • Re: SSD instead of HDD possible in Beomaster 5 / Beosound 5?

In theory you could, but at present, SS drives seem to be just as prone to failure as HD drives, are incredibly expensive and also only offer small capacities at present.

j0hnbarker: nmartin - you should go for it! Which Beogram are you planning on getting? (the one in the photo is a BG 4002). Alex - the Beovoxes are 1000s. Very nice sounding, and look very good laid out on their sides next to the Beomaster. Incidentally, I bought it off eBay in 2004 on a slack day at work. I was already into collecting nice old things

  • Re: BV7 / BS3 question regarding audio

Not possible unfortunately! The BeoSound 9000 only has an analog input, no digital input. The only digital connection is the direct output from the CD mechanism itself.

  • Re: BV 7, 40 inch Connections

For the first question, I would say simply connect it via BeoPort; I think this will be best for your setup. As for the second question, I'm not quite sure I understand you fully; is the BeoLab 2000 in the same room as the computer?

  • Re: BV 7, 40 inch and Beolab 7.1

I can't say either way, but it shouldn't matter from a sonic point of view as the two are pretty similar. I can't say I would want a 7.1 mounted underneath a 7-40 visually though.

j0hnbarker: One last photo - my first piece of B&O (this one's in the kitchen though): BeoMaster 900 with a 60s BeoVox of some sort. I at first thought they were 500s or 600s but the badge is on the wrong side. Out of interest, what model/type number are they? I will confess in all my audiophile snobbery to being a big fan of the BeoMaster 900
