The Lenco is an excellent deck - may well need servicing though - look out for rumble! Have you found Lenco heaven? The TX will lack a little bass but will be much more resistant to external stimuli!

I would suggest that a good Beomaster to learn on would be the 70s Beomaster 2000 . Lots of space to work in, not too complicated and the service manual is on site! the only problem is that they don't seem to go wrong very often!

By the way, not surprised you think these are better than Beolab 4000s. This era of loudspeakers were extremely good!

I doubt it is capacitors, though they may well benefit from a change by now. I would check to see if there is anything loose inside. Easy enough to do - just remove the bass driver. A pair of S60s I had rattled and it turned out the ferrite core of one of the coils on the cross over had loosened. Just stuck it back in and it is doing fine service still

He has done a number for me - highly recommended. He has also repaired an MMC2 with a broken cantilever for me.

I would change the battery! I have done this myself in the past - you can get kits - the tricky bit is getting them apart! Look here !

Nice link - the museum is superb and well worth visiting.

First see if it is the cable - swap the front cables on the back of the Avant. If the LF still hums, it is either the speaker or the cable. Then try swapping the speakers. It sounds like an earthing issue so I would guess there is a fault in one of the speaker plugs - check they are all fully pressed in!

You don't need to open iTunes - use the finder. Go to your name - mine is just below Desktop, then library, itunes, itunes plug ins and you should find it there. Put it in the trash and delete it.
-
Go in the Itunes library & remove the plugin - there was a thread on this before.
