Okay; thank you both. How do your bearings behave? Are they completely silent? Why did B&O switch to these seemingly inferior bearings?

Oh dear, no bottom insert on my deck. My bearing is much like the one on later 4002-4004, then 8000-8002 decks, with only one sintered bronze bearing at the top. So I must have a different nylon disk too. It is pierced but not cracked. A small trough for grease? (there wasn't any left). The three setting screws are not here either. Adjustment is

So please tell me you didn't cut the old cable off... Anyway, the old cable is actually very good, with its double shielding and good section conductors. If you don't want it, I'll take it, because some butcher cut mine off and it had to go under surgery but it doesn't look too good...

Hello, The possibilities are many. Martin is of course right. I've repaired four of these units, so I have seen different problems arise, and often a combination of them!
