The smaller caps (including inside the CPU can) are actually already fresh, I happen to know The 4700 uF in the lower voltage supply is original, but as this happened suddenly, I'm afraid the thunder storm might have something to do with it. But after the rectifiers, worth checking some solderings as well as I seem to remember this particular Beomaster
The market was very different in the CRT age.
Indeed - as far as I remember, ten years ago top-of-the-line tellies from any manufacturer cost closer to 2,000 euros. And for that, you were typically getting a 32" screen with no features to speak of besides showing a picture. So if you you relate the prices
My knowledge: Panel 6500 is only for use with Beomaster 5500/6500/7000. (Specific 2-way IR control data protocol)
That is correct, but the most basic functions should work. You can select a source, switch to standby, step back & forth, but that's pretty much it. For example controlling the

  • Re: Spare Cartridges - Use or Store?
My weekend ritual of late has been to play all the sources in all my systems for at least an album. Should I incorporate cartridge swapping in the ritual?
IMHO that would be a sure way to eventually break a cartridge or the connector in the tone arm. I'm horrified every time I need to touch them.
I've often wondered about replacing the transformer with a toroidal type,as they are quite cheap nowaday's.
A good idea, it seems there would be plenty of room for a toroidal of similar power rating... unfortunately the voltages are a bit odd and I don't think it will be easy to find a suitable

Why not? Throw away the dead animal parts, buy new foam pads and you have an original pair... Wonder what the gunk on one side is though.
Beocord Stereomaster 2 - 610 portable :
That'll be just the thing for a picnic on the beach The colours make it look a bit Braun'esque from the Dieter Rams era. But, does it have Airplay? I've put myself on a spending prohibition. The last purchase remains a pair of Beolab 8000s I just couldn't

  • Re: BG4002 CD4 identification

All four channels are carried over in the same 5-pin DIN cable. However, the cables that actually have wiring for all four channels should be noticeably thicker. While quadraphony went out of fashion, I believe the option became more theoretic towards the end of the production run, and only 2-channel wiring may have been installed. I think opening the
