There is a lot on nonsense spoken about speaker cables in the Audiophile community and you can end up paying a fortune. A relatively inexpensive medium thickness OFC cable should be more than adequate for the job, you should pay no more than a couple of euros a metre at most. Simon

One of the later Beosystems in white could be a decent option, the design will have dated less than many designs from that period. He could then add some modern B&O active speakers such as a pair of Lab 4000's. Simon

Depends what you are after! In terms of interoperability with datalink etc. the DVD1 is the better buy, and it's a B&O! In terms of quality it is likely to be outclassed by a good quality modern player in that price bracket, or even one selling for a good deal less than that.The DVD1 isn't really worth £295 when you consider the alternatives
