No problems there, Alex, there are several good DACs on the market. A couple of points, though. The DacMagic does accept both toslink optical spdif and USB from the MacBook Pro. I've had the opportunity to try a Duet, and that's another excellent option. More importantly - as to volume control. It's QuickTime which controls playback on a

Hi wowmix, You'll notice that when you insert the minijack, or disconnect it, no matter how carefully and slowly you do it, you'll get a lot of scraping in the speakers - at B&O this was explained to me as the result of changes in impedance while you are making the connection, and as the speakers are extremely responsive to anything coming

@TWG Hey, don't diss Apple! Strictly forbidden!!! Actually, the Macbook Pro, and even the puny little Mac mini, is just perfect for music production - but in music production you connect via Firewire or USB, preferably Firewire for pro grade satellite equipment (soundcards, etc.) And you do not use the on-board "iPod and plastic speakers"

I once used the analogy that B&O command&control must be designed by and for bridge players. If you're a bridge player, you're perfectly comfortable with the layers upon layers approach; if you're not ... blinking red lights everywhere. If BeoTime works as advertised, and can store several alarms with RADIO/TV wake-up, then I'm

I usually check out the ads on the internet "for sale" listing where I live, to see what they have from B&O. This popped up, I was on the phone, and rang when that call was over. She'd just sold it, for about GBP 250, for everything. The whole set has been inside that shelf since they bought it new. Anyone else have "got there

I agree with Trip here, this will sell. (And do read the comments thread on the engadget link that Alex supplies us with!) Anyone know whether one can program several alarms during a day? I'd love to use one to start certain radio and television programmes. Cheers!

Put a Cambridge DacMagic or similar between your computer and the BL3s. The speakers are too good for just the minijack analog out from the computer, and internal noise from the computer's power supply is seriously reducing the quality of what you could otherwise be enjoying. You'll also avoid getting the switch-on noises, and you will not be

Here's what I wrote in my first response: 2. If the levels are similar, and the difference persists, then it could be that your BS9000s neutral setting in the tone controls actually changes the frequency curve such that the playback is better for your room; conversely, that the supposedly neutral spdif creates a frequency response that is affected

Yes. If you use a dB-gauge, you'll find that each player has a different output level. Shouldn't be that way, but manufacturers manipulate the output, as they know that people will make side-by-side comparisons. (Some even convert the audio from digital to analog, filter it, reconvert it to digital, and then send it out of the unit. Don't
