I would recommend Tim Jarman of Beocentral - he particularly likes these music centres as they are probably the best ever made. Spare parts are not available so keep the bits! I have an Avant DVD 32. Brilliant set and I think was superb value even though I bought it new for full price. They are now simply a steal. You can, if you really want, get a DVB-T module for them - though I wouldn't bother - get a Sky+ box - they integrate perfectly.

I would walk away unless he is giving it to you. The LEDs are really only replaceable en masse and these decks now sell for next to nothing in good condition. On the Beomaster 6000, check that both channels are working, check the Tuning display changes as you change the frequencies and that the volume control works properly. Nice amplifier - very similar

It works a bit like a STB-C in that it converts one set of codes to another. It is however a bit more complicated than that as it will also allow the 8000 to be part of a link system. Gave mine to a friend!

The HDR2 has only been out for a short time!! I do wonder if the BS5 might be a product to replace the HDR2 and Beomedia but we will have to wait and see. The HDR2 will obviously be subject to the usual updating but I would expect it to remain much the same for some time.

You can possibly but it will take some searching!! You will need the IR converter box which allows a Beomaster 8000 or indeed the BC7700 to be used with a Beolink 1000, and you will need a CD50 with integrated IR board.
