They do produce manuals but no circuit diagrams - we have a number of those on site. I hate to tell you this, but the audio range is going the same way. Repair is now by module replacement rather than at component level. Ok as long as the modules are available!!

The EH60D - quite well though I would not rely on the DVD controller alone , particularly when compiling a DVD. To be fair to the controller, the DVD-R is one of three sources all answering to V.aux attached to my AV9000!

As far as I am aware, B&O don't produce circuit diagrams for the Avant after the 8400/1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 model. I do have that one but quite frankly, I would have to be mad to scan it! It is huge! I would happily lend it to someone who needed it and was willing to scan it themselves - and give us a copy!!

The HDR2 is a superior device as it will allow timer recordings from a digital source. The DVD2 will not. The DVD2 is a very disappointing machine in my view - a rebadged Philips - slightly de-specced! I agree completely with the Stig - DVD controller and other make DVD-R. I have a Panasonic one with HDD, DVD-R and DVB-T all built in. Works quite well

Theoretically you are probably correct. However I took my CDX to compare with a modern Musical Fidelity CD player and it compared pretty favourably. The CD104 is a very highly thought of machine and is of course 14 bit 4X oversampling rather than 16bit twice oversampling. A Naim CD555 blew it away though! Only £14,000 to you sir!

Just had a quick look at the service manual, and I can see no obvious difference in the US/Canadian model and the EU model bar the transformer. A non functioning 5000 could prove to be a useful donor!
