In the early 1980's, I was the (young) Sales manager for Grundig in Canada. Remember the Satellit 3400, and 650 radios (When Grundig was a real company, not a Chinese knock-off name)? Some of the stores we sold to, were also B&O dealers, and I got to know their service personnel quite well. In Canada, there are 3 B&O techs (with lots of

Hi all, I have a BG6000 Quad here, which I got without a cartridge. I put on both my MMC20EN and SMMC2 to test, and I am getting high-frequency distortion (yes, the CD4 switch is OFF). Singers' voices sound scratchy. Instrumentals also sound scratchy. In the Service Manual, B&O state that after a cartridge change, the Channel Separation and

The sticker on the back shows S45, type 6302. Also, the woofer has a cloth surround, not foam - maintenance-free since 1977, when I bought them new! IIRC, the S45-2 had foam surrounds (but I may be mistaken).

And here's the circuit diagram....

Marty, I did my 4 S45's with 16uF Auricaps - see the picture. Expensive, but I never regretted it. Menahem

If you have already replaced the caps, take a good look at the resistors. I recently had a BM1600 come in for repair, where I had to replace all the resistors in the signal path. All of the resistors were out of spec by at least 10%, and a couple were out by 80%. That was after I'd already replaced all the caps. Those old carbon resistors do not

Hi Joe, The CD4 switch is NOT an On/Off switch for the CD4 RIAA amplifier. The CD4 amplifier is permanently ON, as long as you have live electric power to the turntable. See my post here - explains EXACTLY what the CD4 switch does: http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/p/17966/135556.aspx#135556 If you do not have line-level output from the connector, there

Dave, Can you post a picture of this, with dimensions and Ohmic value? There is an old electronics shop here, which just put up for sale a whole bunch of NOS Ruwido slider pots. Let's see if there's a match here. Menahem

You definitely have a damaged BeoGram. From what I see (and hear), some of the plastic gears are damaged, the spindle is damaged, and the solenoid is probably also. Martin Dillen needs to chime in here with his expertise. If you can't do anything with it, send it to Martin in Denmark for a professional repair. Menahem

Hi Martin, So what you are saying is that you can take a laser pickup unit from a CDM4/19 or CDM4/25 and put it in a CDM2/10 transport? Is there no problem with different lengths of the foil cables? Are all the foil cable lengths, the same?
