There are still people around who will repair much older B&O kit even after B&O themselves step aside, for example soundsmith in the US still make B&O compatible cartridges and a number of people here will help out with advice repairs although there may be more 'make do and mend' than you would expect from new kit. henrik: damatt: The light sensor on the LX4500/LX5500 only adjusts the contrast, but the sensor on the LX5000/6000 also adjusts the colour and brightness during the day. I was in a very large branch of Tescos (Supermarket) yesterday and they had maybe 50 flat screen TVs of all sizes, brands and prices in there all showing the same SD terrestial TV output. I didn't think a single one of them had a picture that looked as good as my LS5500 would have done displaying the same output. Many of them had truly horrible

Welcome to Beoworld! A fully working set of Beolab 4000s is still worth several hundred pounds on eBay so it's certainly not worth letting the matter drop as they are a well-regarded speaker (and still in the current range) that would do well as rear speakers in a B&O surround sound setup. The speakers cannot be bought singly so you best bet

As long as you are prepared to be patient, it may be best to wait for a donor TV to come up as non-working on eBay as non-working B&O TV's from that era routinely attract no bids at all so it should cost you very little. Simon

B&O buys panels, and back in the day bought Tubes. When the technology is ready B&O should certainly invest in building TV's that take advantage of the best technology available, but not until it is ready top be incorporated into a desirable, durable product. If I have read the articles correctly Sony will probably produce panels as well

I agree with Peter about the S45-2's, they are a real sweet spot in the early '80's range. Personally, I don't find the lack of bass a problem and they are small enough to be relatively 'wife friendly'. I have not heard the better speakers Peter is talking about though.
