True, but this is because the BL9 is based around the chassis of the BL1 which was just the same. Could well have been done for economical reasons as well as so not to impinge on the BL5.

You can actually get a DVB module for the BV3 - the same as that for the Avant. I would however recommend avoiding it! Very expensive and not very good! From experience of a BV10 with a built in DVB compared to the same set with STB controlled Sky HD box, there is simply no comparison - the Sky box is vastly superior.

The problem with turning them off is that you cannot turn it on by remote. Some sets with PIN code protection will also need the code entering. The BV8 however should be fine though it will take slightly longer to get going than if it had been in standby. I am pretty sure that new EU regulations require all new sets to be fitted with a power switch

You certainly can though I believe new sets may now have a power button.
