Also any thoughts on which speakers to go for with the 1202...as you can see I'm new to this!
Rachel, If you want to stay absolutely in period, then a pair of Beovox 2702s or 1702s would be perfect. The 2702s are lovely speakers - I owned a pair over 35 years ago - but are prone to the dreaded foam rot
That's all i have to say. I'm not hopping mad, cursing everyone.. I'll just have to learn to care a bit less.
Lee, Whilst I can understand fully how disappointed you must feel at such a poor response, I think it would be tragic if this results in you becoming less caring, particularly as my personal

Stein, I understand fully the desire to escape the tyranny of the computer and all its paraphenalia. We are, after all, 'analogue' creatures. Having foolishly parted with my vinyl in the late eighties, I regretted it almost immediately for a number of reasons but ultimately perhaps because I quickly realised I missed the sheer human pleasure

Hi Paul, Here's the link to the advice on sorting the arm positioning. My 1700 has been playing perfectly since this adjustment and some work on the motor a couple of years ago. And the sound is reference quality - I'm decompressing into analog and vintage, even looking for a vintage reel-to-reel, such as the Revox PR99. Even removed the television

Hi Paul, I also had similar problems with a BG1700 when I bought it a few years ago. There are a number of threads on this site about making adjustments to and lubricating the arm lifting mechanism on arms like the one on the 1700. It is a relatively straightforward job which even I managed to do successfully and I am totally inept! You may not need

Having always said that I would pay 'top dollar' for a rosewood pair with stands, there are limits! Cleve

For various reasons, I may now have a pair of S45.2s available to use permanently with my BC 9500. However, I know the alleged limitations of the power amp with the 9500, so I was wondering would I be better off with the S45.2s, even with the 'limitations' of the power amp than using say a pair of BL4000s which will by-pass the power amp in

Thanks to you both - I'll play with the options later. Cleve
