Yes, later 2gb units only need swoftware upgrading, earlier units need a chip upgrade as well - the type of upgrade is dictated by the serial number, your dealer should be able to sort it out - sw upgrade takes about 15 mins

Depends on software version - early one 2gb, after sw update or sw + eprom update 8gb shdc

Farcical price!! UK new price - £250(275€) - with negotiation maybe a goer even with p&p to France! Wouldn't use the French dealers around Brittany no customer focus.
