It happens to all those old models (2500/2300/4000) at some point. Try cleaning the slider tracks with Q-Tips dipped in some kind of cleaner (I use Windex). Then spray a lubricant in the tracks (I use Silicone spray). If this doesn't cure it it's off to the repair shop (or remove the doors).

Some of the photos show earpieces with silver tips and some don't. The presence of silver tips are one of the best ways of spotting the fakes.
