The inputs are for connecting an extra source to the Beosound 9000, such as a tape deck or ipod. Could be that the MX6000 has a bad solder connection on the Aux DIN socket data pin, or a broken wire in it's Audio Aux cable. That would cause the lack of response from the link rooms.

Have you depowered the Beolink converter? It will automatically configure when powered up. There is no option in the MX service menu to select between AAL and ML.
