I really don't think it will do much. You really do need front speakers though - they make far more difference to the sound than rears. If you want the sub for films, you need something with a bit more oomph! I use a Beolab 2.

I see from your post in the Beogram 3000 thread that you seem to be gravitating to the realisation that B&O led the world in the late sixties and early seventies and have been slipping since! A number of us would appear to have come to same conclusion!

Which one works?!! You can certainly run 4 speakers - the system is actually designed so it can run a houseful with the right equipment. If only speaker 2 works, either speaker one is muted (you cannot mute speaker 2) or the mute relay is stuck - a common problem! Try attaching the speakers to speaker one and press the right hand coner of the amplifier

Tim Jarman did quite a bit of work on developing a system to repair these. He said he could not find a quality alternative.

The problem I have with that sort of remote is that I cannot read the buttons without my glasses! And by the time I have found those, I have usually forgotten what I wanted the remote for!!

Pleased you are happy. I am not surprised as the BeoSystem 1 was getting old and clearly lacked the adaptability of the Onkyo. How do you find the remote? Most other makes seem to have too many buttons and are plastic which is one of the main things I would miss if I changed brands.

I think this is an age thing!! B&O used to used the DIN standard for tape players but changed at about the time of the Beocord 8000 and beyond. The VHS91.2 will use LINE standard and I imagine this is your problem. A Beomaster 5000 should work fine. I do also have a service manual for most of the earlier video players - I am short of the VX range

The early Philips ones are very good - when they work! They having an interesting foible which is they can at times revert to their Philips roots and show a Philips screen! The Pioneer ones came later and are fine though not as well made. They could have been quite a bit smaller in both versions, particular the Pioneer. I think the Pioneer menu is better

And expensive!! From what I understand, these are not the most reliable - I would have a Beo6 in preference any day. The reason for wanting one is to use in a dark room - and the Beo6 is just that much more versatile as you can program the screen for whatever you want and it is properly lit.
