  • Re: Beogram 4002 TYPE 5503

The manual for the 4002 type 5501/2 is on site. It is a big one - over 10MB and had to be loaded by Van as it exceeds the limit for me to upload. The 5503 is another market variant of this model. You need to be a gold or silver member.

  • Re: Be careful not to be overtaken, B&O!

Played with the Zeppelin the other day - Too much thick bass the way it was set up. I didn't play with the the settings so it could have been subject to young salesman syndrome!

Alex: That would be the mk1 with the (admittedly disastrous) fuse protection in the back. B&W updated them later on to completely change the speaker protection, and also simplified the crossovers. The mk2s were only sold for a brief period, but didn't sell well because of the high US price. I'd agree about the surface noise issues, the floor

  • Re: BeoLab 9 and ICEPower

Go on! Class D are cheap! The reason the BL9 uses Class AB is that it is based on the BL1 chassis which works very well. You simply don't need the high power for the mid range and the tweeter and AB technology is well tried and perfected. It also helps differentiate the BL9 from the BL5.

  • Re: MCL 2AV power supply polarity?

Well that took a little finding - you are correct - it is marked on the transformer! Looked at all the manuals first as the transformers are all a little inaccessible! The outside is positive, the inside is negative.

  • Re: Beosystem 2 software

I can't find any reference to S/W upgrades for the BS2 Mk1. The Mk2 seemed to come out very quickly. The STB-C will accept all the latest software.

  • Re: Few guestions...

Yes! I do have two though! Actually it is one of the big disadvantages of not having my collection anymore! I could try out most bits of equipment to make sure my advice worked! Now it is mainly memory!

  • Re: Problem With Beogram 1500.

To be honest, I prefer the older equipment! It is easier to use and also easier to fix! (Or in my case get fixed!!) Sound quality is good and build quality fantastic. Some models are fantastic value for money - the Beomaster 2200 springs to mind.

  • Re: 70s nostalgia ?

I think my M100s would show a fairly clean pair of heels to most modern B&O speakers. Only suitable for a decent sized room, they have extremely well defined and accurate bass - we had a demo of them against Pentas, and they were appreciably better. Remember we tend to like the speakers we are used to though - I thought Alex might like the following

Welcome to Beoworld. Most of these radial decks use the same basic mechanism. Have a look at this thread which describes a similar problem in a similar deck. There are some pictures lower down which explain far better than I can! Very good simple deck and well worth getting working! Best of luck!
