  • Re: speaker recommendations for 80ies beomaster 5000

Hi Indeed the mondrians have a true B&O look about them and I do like the fact they are flat pannels. FYI : I am in Montreal Canada. Sometimes B&O sold here can be really overpriced, especially compared to the US and Europe. I think what happens sometimes, is that whoever is selling is calling the B&O store to ask what their items are worth

Hi Chris, Thank you for your reply.. It is very interesting to see different ideas and opinions. Indeed the CX100 lacks some bass (I have 5 of these in my home theater with a small woofer... sounds good enough for movies in this setup.) so probably not the best choice for music, I must agree. I have owned and restored RL60s before, so I know what I

Hi Burantek, thank you for your reply. Indeed the 'mondrian' speakers (sorry, but I had to look them up on the site...) seem like a good idea. Any idea how they would compare in regards to a couple of redlines , soundwise ? There are a couple of beovox 3000 for sale locally for 1200 dollars (around 650 euros) Do you think that would be a reasonable

Hi there Tony, Thanks for the offers, though maybe I should have mentionned that I'm in Montreal, Canada so shipping might be a problem. Though I may have to take you up on your offer if I kind find anything locally here. Thank you in advance Regards, Oliver

Hi Simon, Thank you for your reply. You are right... The S45s would be a good option size wise and are definately more 'wife-friendly' ...Definately a possibility Size wise would also exclude something like the pentas ....they would be a little too powerfull for the size of the room (though excellent speakers imo.. ) Thanks Oliver

Thank you for your reply Brian (xseries), I had redlines (and cx100) before, though hooked up to a 90ies (more powerfull?) beosystem 7000. Redlines are hard to find in good condition, but I have restored several of these a couple of years ago. I have no experience on how S80s sound though, but some people here on this forum seem to like them a lot.

  • speaker recommendations for 80ies beomater 5000

Hi, everyone. I just couldn't resist and picked up an 80ies beomaster 5000 tuner/amp for use in my newly renovated home office. My question is that I would like some suggetions from fellow beoworlders on what kind of passive (or active) b&o speakers would best match up with this unit. I was thinking of either some cx100 or rl60 speakers. Or

  • Re: The Kalle Hvidt Nielsen Interview

First of all a big thanks to Lee for investing so much time and effort in this forum. I have been following several threads. I found the interview to be to the point and the answers rather positive. I hope B&O will revive under his leadership. Just like any piece of modern equipment, it takes software to run the hardware. It's an unavoidable

  • Re: USA & Used B&O Market

Hi, I moved to from Europe to Canada about 4 years ago and I have to say that their is a huge difference in styles between North-America and europe. I work as an interior designer doing both residential and commercial projects that go well into Northern US. As said before in this thread it is true that taste is relative and by default (a lot) more traditional

  • Re: Are you 100% happy with your B&O setup?

Hi, I'm very satisfied with my B&O items. Since we moved to Canada from Europe we have used several sound systems ranging from the more generic systems to bose and something more exotic with Denon and rotel etc. Only to be frustrated and buying a used beosound 6500 component system. Unbelievable how good this (now almost completely restored
