  • Re: 9500 turntable

The best turntable provided by B&O was the Beogram 3000 Type 5210 - mainly because it was a Thorens TD124 Mk2. The bass on these decks is better than anything any other Beogram can provide. After that, the 4000 series, as Chris mentions, are beautifully made and have a lovely sound. A little bass light but excellent isolation and the cartridges

  • Re: Amplifier Replacement

The obvious choice is the Beomaster 8000 which certainly has plenty of power and reserves. Walloping great transformer in it! Of the others, the Beomaster 4400 is beautifully designed from an audio point of view. Frede has kindly sent me a detailed set of documents about the 4400 which I am putting on site - once scanned down a bit! The 2400 is a fine

The one available in the EU is not but I had heard that an iPhone version is planned.

  • Re: A8 Earphones: Bass sounding very bad

My 160Gb is fine - my colour 30Gb was not as good. I would take the A8s and go to a store and have a try. The first iPod mini was supposed to be good!

  • Re: Help! Newbie Beomaster 5500 Questions...

On that note, if anyone wants a new MCL2A, you need to order it tomorrow! Obsolete after that!

  • Re: Your thoughts please!

h1npw: I think the last 2 posts are very relevant............as John says, without wanting to promote an us and them site, I think there are 2 distinct types of interest that visit the site and it would be worthwhile considering catering for the 2 groups in a more distinct and even way than at present. With regards to Eduards views - for the site to

  • Re: Help! Newbie Beomaster 5500 Questions...

You need a remote! Stupid , isn't it! The original Beomaster 5000 has a flip down panel with controls on it. You really need a MCP5500 as then you can program it. Red Lines are fine though any speakers are fine in the short term. It is a 55W amplifier so bear than in mind. I would offer you some speakers on loan but I think you are in the US!

  • Re: When is B&O not B&O?

Craig: Well Peter IMO. If you are having it restored then it should be as original as possible. Are you doing the work yourself? Craig No - I am worse than Mobey! I am delighted to say that my full 5000 system including Beomaster, Beolab, Beogram 3000 and Beovox 2500s will be restored by Frede, the ultimate master of the Beolab system! Have a look at

  • Re: When is B&O not B&O?

Medogsfat: Ah but was it B&O in the beginning Peter? Chris. Interesting question. In this case, the medium transport is Thorens, the arm, cartridge and case is B&O. Compare any cassette deck except the 5000 ! Consider all the VCRs. Or TV sets! I think I am heading towards 2 simply because it looks so good! How shallow is that!
